Women, Trauma and Compulsive Gambling
Most people who suffer from gambling related issues slowly lose control of how much time and money they spend engaging in the activity. This inability to stick to limits can lead to financial issues, as well as a host of other problems. Many times, as the problem intensifies, other areas of the person’s life will be negatively impacted, including families, work and community. In many situations, the person who is directly impacted is a woman. The impact of problem gambling on women can be devastating. While traditionally seen as a problem that primarily impacts males, research suggests growing numbers of women who experience problems related to gambling. This training will focus on the participation of women in various types of gambling, how they are impacted, and most importantly, vital considerations in the approach of treatment for this population.
